Hailing from Oklahoma, Rhett Henry Baxter has spent the last decade of his life dedicating himself to the romanticism of the American West. First trained in Architecture at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where he received the Arch. Departmental Award for his documentation of Ralph Lauren’s former flagship store in the Rhinelander Mansion on Madison Ave in New York, he escaped west to the Sierra Nevada to dirtbag and climb through his early 20’s—naturally he picked up the camera to document the culture he’d immersed himself in. Eventually, that portfolio earned him the prestigious Robert Redford/Milagro Scholarship at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, where he went on to study Documentary Film Making and Photojournalism.

After years working as a creative director and producer, Rhett has pivoted to working as a professional touring and recording musician and visual artist. This work is a direct reflection of his experience of the west, the people and the places, the beauty and the heartbreak, and the relationship between it and the ever evolving world around it.
